I've experienced a range of different students, from beginner to advanced, as well as children who were special needs students. My focus is on Technique, Warm ups, and Injury Prevention on each instrument. I like to give precise instructions on how to build up discipline and practice regimens. The key to mastering any instrument is consistency. I believe it's important to get to know each students interest and goals in order to create a customized plan. With the beginning students I use Alfred and Bastien piano instructional books. Also, the children simultaneously learn to read notes and understand music notation. In my teaching method the goal is to combine high level of technique with musicality and individual interpretation. The beginners’ lessons are systematized as a successful blend of fun musical games and new academic material, thus learning new is fun and inspiring. My private voice teacher in college was truly an inspiration and expanded my voice. He formed my philosophy that voice study should always begin with the natural voice. Wherever you are in the pursuit of voice, it's necessary to develop reproducible, reliable technique. Singing is breath, vowels and consonants, and feeling, and how the three of them interact is crucial to having a sustainable, easy, and fun instrument. This is where the work is.
