Instruments: Violin Viola
Hi! My name is Lauryn L. and I am 19. Right now I go to BYU, and I am studying Viola Performance. I started viola in 6th grade and have been playing ever since. From 10th grade to 12th grade I went to the Gifted Music School Conservatory in SLC. I graduated from there last year. I have been able to work with many professional musicians through this music school. My favorite memories from my music experience so far was playing in Abravanel Hall with the Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra, and playing 2 outdoor concerts at Thanksgiving Point Ashton Gardens with them as well. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Keyboard
There are many teaching methods for music performance. I choose the method which is suitable to an individual student. From the early childhood up to adult age. I am able to provide the materials with music notation and theory of both Classical and Jazz styles. Once I recognize the ability of each individual student I choose the path of development to everyone separately. I believe everyone is an individual and to help him grow musically the best way to teach is to discover the point of advance then choose the individual way of education. Read More
Instruments: Flute
I have taught private flute intermittently for the past 25 years, usually traveling to students' homes. I teach classical music as a foundation, while incorporating other types of music to keep it fun and interesting for the student. Many of my students have performed in recitals which I have organized, as well as in other performances that demand hard work and personal accomplishment. I have students from many different backgrounds and ages, and watching students grow from their musical endeavors and fall in love with music is one of the greatest achievements any teacher can have. Instruments: Voice Music
I want my students to feel inspired and motivated, and feel comfortable progressing at their own pace. As a teacher and mentor, my priority is to help the student set and work towards their own goals. My teaching expertise is classical and musical theater, and I believe that students can be very successful branching out to different styles from this technical foundation. I encourage my students to learn music theory as well as vocal techniques to become well rounded musicians. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
I am a passionate instructor who absolutely loves music! I have played the violin since I was a young girl, and understand the importance of music in a child's life. I am in my last semester at Brigham Young University where I will graduate with a Bachelor's in Viola Performance. I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world with music, performing in festivals in Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, and more. Read More
Instruments: Voice Trumpet French Horn
Everyone learns and masters music at their own pace. Light bulb moments are the moments for which I live! Nothing says, "I am learning," like seeing a student understand a concept or command a new ability for the first time. I set realistic goals and help guide my students towards their goals. I keep my lessons relaxed but full of energy. A huge fan of positive reinforcement, I do my best to make sure that I give a complement or praise before I make any correction. Read More
Instruments: Drums
While I heavily stress learning good technique andreading notation, I think that drums need to be introduced with context. This makes the student aware of what the music needs from the drums and how it feels to play drums in an accompanying manner. So it is important to play time and hear how a beat accompanies theother instruments and how it works with the melody. Reading notation, rudiments, building hand technique, beginners usually start with Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone. Read More
