Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
My private teaching experience dates back to my late high school years and after I graduated from college I began to teach professionally and I also include a wider range of instrumentations. I specialized in woodwinds and I can also teach novice piano and brass instruments as well. In my seven years of teaching experiences, I had helped many students with their auditions and musical growth. Some of them made All-State and/or junior All-State, many students made into All-County bands. Read More
Instruments: Drums Conga
I have been teaching for three years as a part time instructor out of the Music Stores network in Reston, Chantilly, and Lorton. My approach includes teaching from current artists, historically significant artists, and lessons built from drum books in a way that builds fundamentals through cognitive development and positive reinforcement. One of the most important aspects of my teaching is to make playing the drums a fun, and enjoyable experience for the student in a way that enables them to carry an enjoyable experience to whoever they may play with in the future. Instruments: Cello
I have participated in the National Orchestral Institute, Le Domaine Forget International Music Academy, The Silk Road Ensemble Workshop, The Next Festival of Emerging Artists, New Directions Cello Festival, and the Garth Newel Emerging Artist Fellowship. As an orchestral musician, I have played with the Binghamton Philharmonic, Colgate University Orchestra, Northern Tier Orchestra, and the Southold Opera. I'm very passionate about teaching cello privately and I also have the opportunity to coach undergraduate chamber music at Stony Brook. Read More
Instruments: Violin
I have privately taught students from ages five to 56. Since I recently came out of college, I have about one year of experience teaching students part time. I also have experience teaching groups of elementary school students the violin. I encourage students to practice a certain number of hours every day according to his or her playing level. My students are encouraged to enter recitals and competitions so they can feel more accomplished and motivated to learn. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar
I teach music at extracurricular programs in many elementary and pre schools across the Northern Virginia and Maryland area. I also teach piano and guitar in my home studio in Fairfax. I feel qualified to teach children, age 5-18, and to do so in a way that each child feels happy, special, and encouraged. I have gained many skills over the years and the most valuable skill I gained is how to make students love the instrument they play! Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello
I feel that my job as a teacher is to facilite my students' indivual growth and development as they make their own way along their musical paths in life. My happiness comes from watching my students gain more confidence after reaching goals that they set for themselves in our sessions. It's important to me that everyone feels good about themselves which is why I started a 'Student Spotlight' newsletter to highlight accomplishments such as completing a book or performing with the school orchestra. Instruments: Piano Guitar Keyboard Acoustic Guitar
For beginner students I will utilize either the "Alfred's Basic Piano Library" or "Faber - Hal Leonard's Piano Adventures" with the particular books selected to fit the student's age and skill level. I also enhance lessons by integrating scale pattern practice as well as exploration with simple boogie-woogie bass patterns; encouragement to sing and play where the lessons provide such an arrangement; and tinkering creating very simple melody lines and lyrics.
