Putting visualizations to certain sections of music to make the student more musical, or making a game out of the harder more technical sections is how to keep students interested longer. I like to find out why my students want to play guitar, what they want to play, and foster their continuing growth by teaching them what they want to learn. There is a wealth of lessons to help progress the student with fundamentals and gradually moving at a pace that is right for them. Once they have gained the confidence to move on, there is also a second book that follows.
