I typically have students begin by playing something they are comfortable with that they enjoy, and we go from there. I am comfortable teaching a variety of methods and like to help the student achieve their individual goals, whatever those may be. At the same time I introduce basic chords and try to introduce songs as early as possible to show the practicality of all that is being learned.
