Instruments: Piano
I started teaching piano at age 16 after being certified by my own instructor. I had one student I saw weekly and though at first she was against the piano, I worked with her intensely on genres and styles that she enjoyed playing. I also substituted for my piano instructor when she was sick and taught a plethora of children. When I volunteered at the local elementary school, I taught grade schoolers piano on the upright in the auditorium and that's when I fell in love with inspiring future musicians. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Piccolo Oboe English Horn
My teaching began in the first year of my undergraduate degree. I was hired on as an adjunct to coach sectionals for a small school who later went on to get high marks on their marching assessment that year. Following that, I taught lessons to those same students. These students were able to place high in honor bands. I also have experience with teaching students who were starting on day one of playing. Instruments: Guitar Trumpet Trombone Ukulele

However, method books and beginner level ensemble repertoire only go so far because they are written to appeal to every instrument, not just one. Read More
Instruments: Piano Music
I believe that learning should be fun. I love music, and my most crucial goal is passing that love and passion onto students that I work with. I work with a variety of different methods, depending on the needs and interests of the student, and am always happy to be flexible, with the end goal of having a great time making music. I want to instill a love for music making in all of my students, and am happy to take whatever approach is necessary to make that happen. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Mallet Percussion
For beginning drum students, I typically like to start with the Percussive Arts Society sheet of rudiments to ensure a solid technical background as the student progresses. After that, we move on to simple reading and other drumming fundamental concepts including limb coordination, fills, phrasing and articulation, etc. With older students, I find it helpful to try and begin with what they are interested and comfortable in playing. This allows me to find connections and build lesson plans specifically for the individual. Read More
