Hello future students! I much enjoy sharing my experience as a creative musician to my students whether they are 5 or 55, beginner or advanced. I am a patient teacher and do my best to encourage each student to find themselves as unique learners (musicians) unto themselves. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2002 with a BA focus on Music Composition. While recently living in NYC, I formed a 12-member saxophone orchestra, composed and recorded two symphonies, performed and recorded with the late Glenn Branca's 100 Guitar Ensemble, and provided live Sound Design for renowned poetess Anne Carson. I studied flute for about a year while playing valve trombone in local Detroit area bands. Mostly I have studied flute through personal study and affiliations with musicians with similar interests (improvisatory music). My formal studies were mainly low brass, then voice (two years private instruction at Wayne State University). I feel that my qualifications pale when compared to learning from "jam session" and playing jobs locally I feel "blessed" being able to share my music and views concerning the arts with friends and students. I hold a degree from Case Western Reserve University where I studied art and music theory. My professional experience includes singing with a Chorale that performed with the Cleveland Symphony and performances as a soloist with choirs in Ohio and Michigan. I founded and was the director of the Academie des Beaux-Arts, a performing arts school and the Actors Alliance Theatre, a professional theater company that gave young people a chance to perform with professional actors. Most people want to learn an instrument in hopes of performing in front of people someday or to have the knowledge of that instrument in their arsenal for other musical endeavors. My goal is to make their goals a reality. One thing that was really instilled into me by my teacher was "raising your ceiling".
