My joy is to see progress and growth in my students. I also enjoy seeing their love of music develop. I take each student where they are: beginner or advanced, and put goals in place for them. Such goals can be things like learning music for solo and ensemble band / orchestra competitions, performing in their Church, or putting together a jazz band or classical ensemble for concerts. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Read More

My methods vary on the student and subject. Beginning students will typically focus more on technical pieces of music to improve on certain aspects of a few pieces to perform. More advanced students will still practice technical parts of their music, but less time will be spent on it during a lesson. Advanced level students will spend more time on repertoire and performance. The more advanced a student gets, the more I expect them to practice outside of lessons and apply their newly learned technical skills into their music on their own. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching focuses on bodily awareness and fundamental vocal techniques initially; this includes exercises to promote bodily flexibility and release tension in the muscles that can hinder ideal singing. This is paired with vocal exercises that promote use of the voice in a way that allows maximal vocal freedom and health. As the student gains consistency of vocal control and awareness, more time is allotted to working on music. I encourage students to discuss and choose music from the style(s) of their liking, as this keeps the student maximally engaged and allows the student to apply what they've learned to a situation that they can relate to. I began teaching in college as a hobby, and as a method for solidifying the skills that I myself was learning. After I graduated, I continued to teach friends for fun and for the experience. Today, I teach as a means of keeping music in my life and sharing traditions that are special to me. Read More

I strongly believe in learning from my students, and that music lessons are about sharing, and exchanging ideas. I also understand that students at the beginning of their musical journey may need more of a guiding hand than others further along. For piano students I use the Neil A. Kjos Piano Library method books. I am flexible and I can tailor my lessons to what the student is interested in learning. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute
By taking lessons you will: learn to develop sparkling tone and proper playing technique, learn fun and efficient practice techniques to teach your future students, have opportunities to actively compete in local competitions and events and be more immersed in the flute community and make connections! Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students go out and share their passion with other people. No matter the level, experience, or ability, I believe that you can communicate with others just by having passion for making music. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
I began teaching young, beginner students roughly fifteen years ago. This progressed to teaching collegiate saxophonists while at the University of Wyoming. I understand that everyone student learns differently, and I'm comfortable teaching in whichever way is most helpful and beneficial to the student. I am most experienced in classical saxophone, though I am capable in teaching beginning jazz and swing. Whether it's basic fundamentals to virtuosic repertoire - I am able to teach and refine your skill. Read More
