For beginners of any age, I begin by discussing goals, milestones, and how we will achieve them. I do use method books, but only recommend those that will be useful in and out of lessons. I am from a traditional classical singing background. I use vocal exercises to not only strenghen the voice but to build a strong singing foundation. Hopefully, by the end of the lessons there will be no need for a microphone. For young singers we will focus on classic tradional basic song literature as well as have fun with popular music. I would tailor my instruction to give each student the best opportunity to be successful.
