For beginners I usually start them off with two books, Stick Control and Funky Primer. I then pair what they learn from those with real world examples and try to incorporate that into songs that they want to play. For more intermediate students we focus more on developing their musical vocabulary and all around versatility. We go more in depth on rudiments and using them around the kit. I have been teaching private students since 2010, and am looking forward to establishing a studio in the NYC area. I believe in helping students establish regular practice habits, with consistent warmup exercises and strong fundamentals. I also find that combining assigned music with music the student choose for themselves helps keep motivation levels high! While in New York, I am also participating as a freelancing teacher musician. During the summer months, I have been seen performing at the St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Windermere, FL. Here, I have played in a variety of settings, including frequent performances in traditional worship, a Summer pops orchestra series, and three musicals. I am a music teacher who is very passionate about imparting knowledge and sharing music with my students. I have been teaching music theory, solfeggio, voice, counterpoint and choral conducting. I graduated with three degrees in music, namely Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Voice, Bachelor of Music in Conducting.
