I usually start out by doing the methods book but I also stress the importance of playing with others in a group or duet setting. I love getting to play the teacher part with my students so it's more of a collaboration than a solo job. My goal is to have my students play duets with each other if that can be accommodated. That being said, for children and beginners, I will focused mainly on the basics such as: proper posture, proper guitar technique, basic chords, basic rhythms, warm-ups ... Once all of that is covered, my method will vary depending on the student's goals and the style where are in.
