Instruments: Voice Flute

For absolute beginner's I will spend the first few lessons just working on getting a sound out of the instrument and when ready, playing some easily recognized songs (like nursery rhymes), by ear to develop aural skills from the very start. All of my students will start with the Rubank methods of the appropriate level. For beginner and intermediate students, we will work out of classical repertoire books appropriate to the level. Instruments: Violin Viola Electric Violin Fiddle

I use a variety of methods and techniques. I have training in the Suzuki Method, as well as more traditional methods of violin instruction. In my lessons knowing scales and arpeggios will be important. I also teach about keys and time signatures early on. Though I use the suzuki method, some of the time, reading music is also taught early on in the lessons, depending on the age of the student. Read More

Instruments: Piano

For beginning students who are younger I typically start with Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. If a student is older I will put them in the accelerated method or the adult method. I will sometimes supplement with Alfred's Premier series or Music Tree. Once a student has progressed to a certian level, I will introduce other piano literature to supplement the method book learning. I try to best fist the goals of my students whether that is starting from the beginning with traditional piano lessons or to achieve some other goal or purpose. Read More

Once appropriate repertoire is selected, students are regularly assessed on their improvement and growth. I draw a great deal of my philosophy and pedagogy from outside sources and disciplines. Method books from world-renown artists and educators provide inspiration for my lesson plans. I often equate mastering music to mastering a foreign language; fluency resulting in mastery of vocabulary and communication. I also draw inspiration from the Alexander technique; regarding ones body as part of the instrument, as well as cultivating effective practice and performance routines. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I try to push every student to be the best they can be while also providing the guidance needed. to achieve their goals Every week I set new goals as to what to work on and what to practice to give a clear idea as to what to do and how to improve. I believe in positive reinforcement and I firmly believe that it's one of the best ways to learn music. Read More

Instruments: Piano Organ Keyboard

I have fairly casual lessons. I want my students to have fun while still making meaningful progress. I don't turn pages just to turn pages. If there is confusion on a song, we review it for a few weeks. I also like for parents to take a hands-off approach. I feel it is not their job to teach their children piano, and what they say may confilct with what I say. Read More
