For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki Method while combining it with the Essential Elements Method. As the student learns the fundamentals I gradually add scales and exercises to further develop the student's technique. After further progress, I begin to introduce solo repertoire and add other pieces. I'm fairly flexible on what pieces the student may play in the lessons, as long as the rudiments and classic repertoire are covered. Read More
Instruments: Voice Drums
My teaching has enabled me to work with young musicians of all ages and skill types. The approach I take is technique driven, while at the same time, expressive, musically sensitive, and fun! Voice students will learn English and foreign language diction, ear training and sight-singing, proper posture, stage presence, confidence, and healthy vocal production suitable for all styles of singing. Drum students will learn the importance of snare drum rudiments, how to read drum charts, the nuances of various styles, as well as, develop dexterity and increase muscular function and independence. As a teacher, I have taught masterclasses, clinics, and have given private and public instruction as part of after-school programs, camps, and private events. One of my main purposes in life is to play music for the sake of making music, and also to share music with people for the sake of their experience. As a performer, I play regularly throughout NYC with Grammy-nominated and winning artists such as Jimmy Greene, Eric Bergen, and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra at clubs such as Birdland, the Iridium, Joe's Pub, Smalls, Smoke, and many more. Instruments: Clarinet
My methods vary by age group and skill level. I generally use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for students new to the clarinet then progress to Baermann Scale Studies as well as several different methods depending on the student's ability. In addition to etudes, solo repertoire is introduced, also based on the student's ability. Outside of playing the instrument, my lessons include reed fixing and balancing, practice techniques, performance anxiety reduction techniques, and for more advanced students, audition techniques. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! Read More

The most exciting thing about working together with a student is savoring the aha moments - those times when a student walks into their lesson and shows how hard theyve been working by performing at their best. Teaching has been a fundamental part of my music-making for over 10 years. I opened my teaching studio during my undergraduate studies in Sydney, Australia and have continued to grow my practice since relocating to New York. Read More
