Out of countless saxophonists in the state, I was one of two tenor saxophonists chosen to perform in the district, region, and all-state wind ensembles and the only musician to be regaled the PMEA Richard Merrell Band Scholarship. In the jazz realm, my high school jazz ensemble auditioned and was chosen to be the only high school ensemble to perform at the 2015 PMEA state conference. My teaching experience all started 2 and a half years ago when I first began teaching voice and piano in my home studio, working primarily with younger students. After some time teaching at home, I began to work at music studios and had the experience to teach students of all ages and see them progress and develop their technique. For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. I am a professional trumpet player and educator. I am currently an adjunct professor at Richard Stockton University in New Jersey where I teach trumpet and coach a small jazz ensemble. I also teach many students privately out of my home studio. I also have experience in providing group music education and movement classes to homeschool students. I pursued a Masters of Public Administration in Healthcare degree and moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue a new career in that field.
