Mary has primarily studied classical trumpet, but also has training in jazz and world music. She currently plays principal trumpet in the Bravura Philharmonic and occasionally performs with the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, and the Garden State Philharmonic. Shes also a member of the Philly Bloco and the Bella Vista Brass Quintet. Shes been involved in many performance groups including but not limited to the Vassar Wind Ensemble, Penn Orchestra, Marsyas Ensemble and numerous Purchase Conservatory ensembles including the symphony orchestra, graduate brass quintet, Latin jazz orchestra, klezmer ensemble, and the new music ensemble. I began teaching lessons in college, but grew my studio while I was preparing for grad school auditions from 2010-2012. Most of my students at that time were beginner piano lessons and I love to teach young children. I also greatly enjoy teaching children with autism. I have had success in combining my music education and music therapy skills to help students accomplish musical goals while also addressing behavioral goals such as increasing verbal or nonverbal communication. It is equally important to learn music from method books and through sonic exploration; I have personally learned a lot from books and while "noodling."When teaching trumpet (all skill levels), I use books including Arban's Complete Conservatory Method, Clarke's Technical Studies, and Schlossber's Daily Drills and Technical Studies.For guitar and bass guitar (beginner through intermediate), I start with Hal Leonard's Play Bass Today series. In Russia, I was a concert pianist as well as a teacher of classic piano theory and performance.  I was a soloist who performed with a full orchestra as well as being a chamber musician, accompanist for singers and for strings. Since I came to the United States, I have concentrated more on teaching.  I have taught piano at many music schools and have also given private lessons, both at students' homes and at my music studio.  My piano students have won multiple awards at music competitions in Russia and the United States.  In 2006, a student of mine won first prize at the West Chester University Music Competition.  Then in 2011, my students won prizes in the International Music Competition, the National League Competition and the Tri-County Competition.
