Born in Los Angeles, Andy started playing piano at age five and by age thirteen, he was studying the viola as well. He played in his school’s string orchestra, the Conejo Youth Symphony, and was awarded the opportunity to perform at the Music Teacher's Association convention in Sacramento. In high school, Andy started playing drums as a hobby but soon found it to be yet another instrument he was passionate about. He has played for many bands including rock, jazz, heavy metal, country, contemporary Christian, and African. Andy has recorded records for various bands and three independent film soundtracks in addition to playing for our troops on a USO tour. At California State University, Northridge (CSUN), Andy studied classical and world percussion. He was a member of the Wind Symphony, the Symphony Orchestra, and was appointed section leader of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Andy received both his B.M. and a M.M. from CSUN and now he is studying to become a Doctor of Music at Rice University,
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated music teacher who loves introducing young children to the wondrous world of music. I come from a very musical family as my father instilled in me a great love of piano and I have in turn inspired my nephew who is also a musician. I graduated from Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. I have always had a good rapport with my students and I get great satisfaction watching my students advance in their musical proficiency.
I started playing the cello when I was 9 years old and was taught by Lisa Vosdagones. I graduated HSPVA in 2008 and played in the Houston Youth Symphony on the weekends. I played in my University's orchestra, sitting first chair the entire time. I love playing the cello and I hope we can make beautiful memories and sounds together.
I am a passionate music teacher who believes that music is truly a universal language, shared by all cultures the world over and one of the best characteristics of our humanity. I grew up singing in my family, singing in the church choir and caroling with my family at Christmas, enthusiastically sharing my musical abilities with others. I have sung under the batons of John Alexander, Dale Warland, and Bobby McFarren and premiered music by composers Phillip Glass and Eric Whitacre- All of these music experiences helped to mold me into a professional teacher and musician who cherishes her abilities and excels at sharing it with her students.
I am a graduate student of Paul Ellison at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas. An alumnus of the Oberlin Conservatory, I studied previously under Scott Dixon of the Cleveland Orchestra. As an orchestral musician, I have served as Principal Bass for the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic and the Oberlin Orchestra. An avid interpreter of new music, I am a member of the Syndicate for the New Arts: a Cleveland-based collective which champions the works of Rust Belt composers. To that end, we put on concerts, lectures, and educational programming directed at underserved communities. Through my work with the Syndicate, I formed a duo with harpist Caitlin Mehrtens, another incoming graduate student at the Shepherd School. In May, we premiered five pieces by Ohio composers, and more commissions are on the way from Houston area composers.

Studying music facilitates learning in other subjects such as math and English, helps promote language development, and can even possibly result in increased IQ! Musical activity can also involve a high level of hand-eye coordination and can improve a student's spatial temporal skills while giving them a skill they can have for the rest of their lives. It's important to remember that the biggest benefit of studying music is the development of a lifetime love of diverse types of music.
Your introductory lesson is a chance for you to meet your teacher, and ask any questions you have before committing to registering for lessons. Live performing is a great asset to any musician. Musika offers recitals every year in the Spring where students of all ages and levels can come together to show off their hard work! Teachers help the students to choose and prepare their material, and Musika provides the venue and a piano accompanist if the student should need one.
In order to safeguard our students and provide a level of security to the lesson experience, Musika utilizes Intellicorp for its screening and background check procedures on all teachers in our network, with thorough background checks being conducted on the national, state, and local county level.

I had always wanted to take vocal lessons, but was very nervous about it until I had the opportunity to have Ali as my instructor. She made me feel very comfortable and helped me realize my strengths while giving me other areas to work on and strengthen. I liked how Ali had me sing out of my "comfort" zone to realize my vocal range. It is obvious that Ali loves music and sharing that love with her students. She is very good at what she does and works well with both male and female voices. I highly recommend Ali and give her solid 5 stars

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Rachel. We met her through CYT where my daughter took theater classes from Rachel and was directed by Rachel in several musicals. Because Rachel was so wonderful to work with and so clearly talented at teaching and directing, several years ago, my daughter started private vocal lesson with her and I have seen my daughter's vocal abilities grow in leaps and bounds. Rachel is an ace at picking music to work on that stretches abilities while at the same time, keeps vocal lessons fun. I highly recommend her as a voice and theater coach.

Amber is personal and cares about her students. She is flexible in her schedule and maintains a professional attitude in her lessons. Her want for her students to succeed makes her excel as a teacher. She is very knowledgeable about music and extremely experienced. Additionally, she includes external activities aside from lessons for the students who wish to advance themselves externally. Really a great teacher who offers great opportunity.

My 4-year-old has had several lessons with Martina now, and he has learned a lot. Obviously, it is challenging to teach such a young child, and he has learned quite a lot in a short time, and is very excited to learn about violin and for his lessons. I think Martina is doing an excellent job, is quite patient, and is teaching him in such a way that he can really remember his new skills from week to week. We look forward to many more lessons with Ms. Martina!

Lindsey has been coming to our house to give saxophone lessons to our 12 year old daughter for about a month. She is an absolute joy. She is extremely knowledgeable, flexible with her schedule, and my daughter thinks she is "fun" and "cool". We would highly recommend her to anyone wanting music lessons. A+

“My son has been instructed by Mark for almost four years. Mark is an outstanding teacher. His credentials are by themselves impressive, but his ability to relate his knowledge to kids is even more so. Connor's ability to understand and read music is fantastic. Mark also knows the performance side of playing drums and has encouraged Connor to actually incorporate his knowledge to play alone and in a band. He is patient and encouraging which is what motivates Connor to work and practice. He is a mentor as well as a teacher. He is superior at what he does and we highly recommend him.” Ro J.

Travis rocks. My 7-year-old son and I both take lessons with him. Travis has moved me off the plateau I was on with lessons that focus on theory and technique. And for my son, he's been able to instill a desire and interest that were missing when he previously took piano lessons. With Travis teaching us, the limits are the ones we impose on ourselves. Needless to say, Travis himself plays a mean guitar to boot!

Andrew is very encouraging and uplifting, but also isn't afraid to tell you your weaknesses. Andrew also is super awesome with scheduling. Fits around your schedule all the time. He really knows what he is doing and can help you reach your goal in the time you would like to. Couldn't have gotten a better teacher, who continually helps me grow and pushes me.

We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Emily is better prepared to start middle school band this year due to flute lessons from Chelsea and we plan to continue the lessons for the foreseeable future.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
