I've been teaching guitar since before entering the Cleveland Institute of Music. Since graduating I've taught for 5 years at the prestigious music studio "El Estudio Bartok" in Mexico City and in my home town of Cleveland Ohio at Tri C West and various private studios. Now I've dedicated my work to Lessons In The Students Home and at my private residence in Ohio City (Cleveland). I've been performing regularly around Cleveland and touring outside of the city since graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet French Horn
I began teaching private French horn students in 2011, and I have been teaching music in various ways since then. I have been both a general music and a band teacher, working with students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. With my private students I emphasize regular practice as the best way to improve and keep having fun with an instrument. I also seek out opportunities for my students to perform and attend concerts that may widen their musical horizons. Read More

When starting with a young beginner student, I typically start with the beginning Suzuki Method books or Essential Elements books. I will also work on school repertoire if applicable. Once they have advanced past the level of the Suzuki books, I will begin to introduce solo works appropriate for their level and desire. When teaching adults of varying abilities, my methods are much more tailored to their wants in terms of style of music, difficulty of the pieces and the speed at which they would like to learn. Instruments: Piano
I tailor my method selection to suit the needs of the student. With so many wonderful methods out there, what it comes down to is what will help the student learn the most! I highly emphasize Music Theory and Aural Skills; I believe that students should understand what they are playing. This understanding leads to more accurate performances and more solid memorization skills. I try to keep the student's musical education moving forward steadily at whatever pace the student learns best. Read More

It's important to me that private lessons incorporate dialogue as much as possible. A student's feedback and questions are invaluable when deciding how to proceed. Rather than handing the student new materials from week to week without regard for their personal needs, I prefer to really dig in and figure out what their specific barriers to improvement are. I believe that the best way to do that is open communication, and I try to encourage that by conveying my excitement for music and learning at every lesson. Read More

Nothing is better than watching a student make the transition from one level of playing to the next. It is important that each student progress at his or her own pace. This is achieved by setting realistic goals each week. I love to encourage students' success by acknowledging their accomplishments, no matter how small. This helps fuel their desire to get better. I want to know what inspires my students so I can bring that into the lesson every week. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For beginning students, I typically start with Piano Adventures. Advanced beginners usually have other excellent methods such as Bastien, Schuam, or Alfred, and I use any method which is acceptable. Adults, or more advanced students, usually have a particular interest in a certain style of music or keyboard skill which I help cultivate. Though nothing matches the sound, subtlety and feel of an acoustic - the essence of the art of the classical tradition - I encourage students to use MIDI-aided learning tools to develop their sight-reading skills.
