Learning a new instrument requires patience, practice, and determination, and reinforcers can be a huge motivator (I know they were for me when I was learning). Every student is different, and for that reason I tailor each students materials to their needs. Some students are advanced enough to begin learning from Rochut's Melodious Etudes book, while some may need something easier than that, like Cimera's Phrasing Studies book. I focus hard on the fundamentals of the instrument and don't introduce material that is too hard for the student. For beginning students that are children, I like to start with Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements or any other book that has the basic principles of music in them. Once the student has progressed and has a good grasp of the fundamentals, I will bring in other repertoire appropriate to their level. For adults, I like to find out what the student is interested in and then tailor the lesson toward that to keep lessons engaging and fun no matter what their abilities are. I always try to keep the lessons fun and entertaining. My teaching style is based on love, patience, kindness and understanding. My priority is to create a safe space for students so that they can express themselves freely and authentically. The most important aspect is to make learning a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling process by understanding the student and listening to what they want to accomplish. In order to understand the student and make this session an enjoyable one, I always use this technique of knowing what type of learner I'm working with: We have four main types of learners: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic.  1.)
