My teaching experience began in 2013, whilst attending university. Since then I have taught private lessons in students' homes and at studios on a part time basis. My emphasis with students begins with two things: creating a practice routine, and building fundamental singing techniques to create bodily awareness. For the adventurous one, I dare them to go on adventures with me. For the self-critical ones, I become their voice of encouragement and love. I use method books by Hal Leonard and Bryan Johanson to begin with, along with exercises from pumping nylon. Once we get to a point where we can read fairly fluently, we begin repertoire work from Canada's Royal Conservatory. I also use chord charts to begin learning how to play as well, as most students like to learn chords to play pop or folk tunes in the meantime as they're learning the fundamentals. Read More

Firstly, I believe that laughter is important. It helps students relax and enjoy themselves, and it perfectly engages the muscles needed for support. I try to maintain a teaching atmosphere where laughter is possible. I also believe that the student essentially teaches themselves to sing- I diagnose and provide input. I can take a more hands on approach for less experienced singers, but ultimately, nothing is going to stick if the student is not consiously engaged. Having fun is paramount! I have a great personality, and teach in a loosely structured environment so the student feels comfortable. No matter the age or skill level, the student will find that their enthusiasm and effort will dictate their progress. I will kindly share knowledge and help give them the tools needed to succeed. I am versatile and passionate percussionist and drummer who has extensive experience with all percussion instruments and styles. I graduated from California State University Northridge with Bachelors and Masters degrees in percussion performance. I have toured to multiple locations in the United States in addition to performing in several amazing venues such as Chicago Symphony Hall, The Valley Performing Arts Center, and Royce Hall.
