I started teaching college age students as an Undergraduate as part of my vocal pedagogy class, and have also taught students for my Graduate vocal pedagogy class. I continued teaching some after the classes concluded. Early in 2013, I officially opened my own voice studio and have been taking new students ever since. Corey has taught and directed music and theatre for youth for over 15 years. Corey was born and raised in southern Oregon where he spent his youth performing live music and theatre on stages like the Ross Ragland Theatre, The Linkville Playhouse, Oregon Stage Works, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He has been playing the guitar and drums, as well as acting and directing, since he was 12 years old. My students focus on learning to use their whole body as their instrument with proper breathing, posture, and diction. Once great technique is learned, you can use this knowledge for any style and maintain a healthy voice. I love to see my students accomplish their goals. Therefore I always assign a piece easily within their reach. However, I believe it is important to have higher goals. In keeping with that, once the student is at an appropriate level, I assign a piece that will take a bit more work to master.
