When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. I began teaching voice as a school project when I was 14 years old and realized that I I loved it! From then on, I always kept my hand in teaching throughout my high school and college years. I started teaching full time, at which point I added piano and speaking to my repertoire. I think my folks realized I was serious, so they bought a little Woolworth's "kiddie" kit and set up drum lessons when I was about 7 and learned to read and write jazz and rock music with my instructor until I was 16. I have also adjudicated and taught masterclasses. I've found a passion for working with others that I didn't know that I had.
