I am a current DMA candidate and teaching assistant at LSU. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach. My methods vary according to the students interests and development. But I also have a guideline of references. For the beginners, I like to use Faber Faber, Boris Berlin's Four Stars, and some Alfred's piano methods. As we go to intermediate, I focus mostly on repertoire, sight reading, harmonization and, if the student likes, some improvisation. The books vary according to the student. For advanced players, the focus is in the repertoire, so probably we will be using performance editions for the repertoire, with preference for the Urtext (original text) ones. Read More

I approach teaching in a very relaxed manner. If my students learn in a certain type of way I will differentiate my teaching style to accommodate them. I believe all students can learn and enjoy music, it is just a matter of finding the way that speaks to them the most. I do this by first seeing their experience level, asking where they are hoping to be, setting realistic goals, and by acknowledging their mile stones to keep their motivations high. Read More

I have been the recipient of several scholarships and positions that demonstrate my academic and performance distinction. I have performed in an array of concert venues in the United States and internationally in both solo and collaborative contexts.
