For beginning vocal students, I start by simply teaching a student how to warm up; from there, we work together to determine what a student's natural strengths and weaknesses are and select repertoire that the student is personally interested in that is also appropriate to their level of proficiency. I started teaching friends various instruments and general music theory as a freshman. Then I continued my teaching with tutoring my fellow bass students with more difficult material. Now, after having graduated from Rowan University, I teach with the Resonance School of Music teaching guitar, clarinet electric bass and upright bass. I like to create lessons geared towards each individual students needs. I work out of a few different books depending upon skill level. I try to gear the lessons towards the style of music the student likes while also teaching different techniques for a wide variety of music. I like to use rudiments and stick control as warm up exercises and then also teach different grooves and rhythms through song. for beginner students I will teach drum kit basics like setup. tuning and how to replace drum heads etc as well.
