My teaching experience has covered various situations, styles, and instruments. During my undergraduate work I taught general music at an elementary school, and did my student teaching as an instrumental teacher in an elementary school, and as a band teacher in a middle school. In my junior year I spent three weeks teaching in Uganda, where I taught high school aged beginners and intermediate brass and percussionists. During my graduate degree I taught students of various levels and ages privately, and also taught the Trumpet Techniques class, where I taught non trumpet playing music education majors the basics of how to play trumpet as well as how to teach it in their future classrooms. Since I was inspired to play piano by ear after hearing a Mozart piano sonata when I was five, my love of music brought me to many places performing professionaly, whether it's a Dvorak trio, a big band standard, or a Daft Punk cover.  I began my formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music for eleven years, while also studying violin, percussion, trumpet, and composing along the way.  Beginning by performing as a freelance accompanist, church organist, and teaching piano at Baldwin - Wallace College, I've gone on to play at the University of Connecticut Chamber Music Festival in 2009, and earned my Master's in piano performance in 2010. After moving to North Carolina she started a Baums Music school, were she teach piano to the class of 50 students. Her students knowledge evaluated through local and state festivals and competitions. Mayas students have won many prizes and rewords at the different levels. Maya was elected as a president of Raleigh Music Club and continues teaching out of a private home studio. After moving to Texas she restarted a Baums Music schools were she teach piano to the class of 25 students and teaches music at the Coppell Conservatory. Read More

I simply enjoy helping people establish and accomplish their goals on their instruments. The first step is to identify what holds a student's attention. So I wrote out the melody for her and then figured out chord progressions to accompany them. For beginning flute students, I use the Jump Right In series by Edwin Gordon.
