For beginning students, I use the Trevor Wye beginning books and supplement with solos, etudes, songs and exercises that I give them which are appropriate for their level. For more advanced students, I will use etudes and methods/ solos which are appropriate for their level. For adults, I will find their interests and select a course of study with them.  With all students, I will assist with their school music or any ensemble/ solo music they wish. With students learning or continuing education on the piano, like to start with the basics. Once the student begins to have a grasp for that i begin to introduce reading music and theory. I also like to prepare the student to play any genre of music by sheet music or by ear as well. All of my students have the same basic foundation. On top of that foundation we add in specific tutorials geared towards the type of music that they want to plat. We identify key elements and styles within that genre of music that their interest in. Then I construct a specific lesson plan geared towards that particular style.
