I have for several years worked with Middle and High School Students throughout the Corpus Christi area. I have worked with beginner and intermediate bassoon students, beginner, intermediate and advanced flute students. I have a great deal of experience working with theatres and teaching vocals to musical theatre actors. For the past 10 years I have worked extensively with choirs. For students who are just beginning, I typically start with Alfreds Drum Method Book 1. Mostly for learning basic music notaion and theory. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce drum set music notation and theory from the Tommy Igoes Groove Essentials 1.0 book. For adult students we tend to work on whatever the the students interested in,and guide my lessons accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun ,no matter their skill level. Read More

I typically start students who don’t know how to read music with Kevin Olsen‘s book called “The Perfect Start.” I then supplement that with my own approaches to teaching to note reading, musicianship, theory, sight singing, and composition. After a few months, the student will be transferred over to such books as Fabre and Fabre.” I truly try and streamline a students experience and lessons towards pieces and music they are interested in playing.
