For beginning students, I use materials such as Beginners Method books, Hal Leonard books, Jody Fischer books, and popular songbooks. I'm make sure to include ways to properly develop your ability to utilize music theory training from an early stage. Throughout lessons and into the skill level of moderate to intermediate, I'll use sound clips as examples to fully ensure that you as the student are grasping the concepts and can hear how to improve and approach creating musical notes using the tools that exist. I have taught privately off and on through-out the years in several cities that I've lived in. I like to challenge students but not expect more than they are able to deliver. I like to concentrate and focus on the basics of playing while expanding on the students ability. I believe strongly in a good daily warm-up and daily routine. I believe that with 30-45 minutes of daily practice time, any student can see noticeable, continual improvement. Read More

I have delved ever further into it over my lifetime (and continue to do so); and I love bringing whatever knowledge out of the "sea" of music there is to students who are eager to learn. Furthermore, I love getting "out of the way," so they can learn. Things that get IN the way are bureaucracy, stuffiness, overbearing attitudes, lack of curiosity, laziness, and pressure, to name a few. I have a track record of overcoming these obstacles to bring out the music YOU love from within you. Read More

My teaching style very catered to the experience of the person learning the instrument. I think it's very important that the lessons move at the pace of which the student appears to be learning. The style of music the student wants to learn is rarely steered away from, I feel that too many teachers force students to learn songs outside their preferred genre just because the song is well known. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. When working at my studio, the milestones each student accomplishes are recorded in an audio format that the student can keep as a trophy and to listen to his progress. Read More

My teaching experience is still in the early stages because of how busy I was during my school career at Seminole a State College with performing and schoolwork. During my three years at Seminole State, I performed with the guitar ensemble, the Jazz Band, a Jazz Vocal group, performed multiple recitals, played with a student led jazz quintet that gigged around the Sanford and Lake Mary area, and became the music theory tutor for the music program.
