I'm a professional guitar/singer teacher, teach musics both in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese if there's any interest, any kind of music. I've been playing/singing for 16 years, and done part of it as a job. I'm very passionate about music, and since guitar and voice always go together I think it's a great experience to do both at the same time. It doesn't take long to teach/learn if there is minimum training during the week, and and instrument is necessary for the student to practice. Read More

I have been a music educator for over fourteen years. Most recently, I was Artist-in-Residence & Director of Contemporary Music at Pomfret School, and independent boarding & day school in Connecticut. I left the school in June, 2018 in order to explore new professional opportunities, and to be closer to my creative network in New York. I love working with students of all ages as they work to realize their own musical vision! Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice
I have been been playing piano in an academic setting for 20 years, voice for 9 years, and guitar for 8. During my time in high school I began teaching by tutoring my peers in music performance, music theory, and music history. I have studied various musical genres and I always love to cater my lessons to the needs of each individual student. I make it a habit of writing exercises for students so that they can work on something specifically suited to their current musical ability, and will help them grow as a performer. Read More

My approach is both traditional and also contemporary.. I use standard method books that have been around for years. I don't like to generalize on one or two methods. I cater the lessons to the individual student. Some may have a wide musical background. Some may not have any. Sight reading and method books are a must. I teach classical piano but also incorporate contemporary songs usually something that the student may request. Read More

I'm new to teaching on this level, but I do have some prior experience, most notably a paid tenure teaching a family friend for a summer. My student was very young and a novice, so I primarily utilized both formal methods for the understanding of fundamentals of music theory and technique, though I also helped her learn to play a few popular songs at her request. Letting students pursue their own personal interests in music in addition to teaching them the fundamentals is important to me, but with more experienced students I generally tend to focus more on improvisation and harmony as opposed to sightreading. My music pedagogy is influenced by Zoltan Kodaly, mile Jaques-Dalcroze, Edwin Gordon, and Carl Orff. For teaching violin, while I employ elements of the Suzuki Method, Strictly Strings, and Metodo Nicolo Violin to instill discipline and establish ,precision, I set up a lively, interdisciplinary, and creative environment by incorporating calisthenics, games, dancing, singing, and storytelling to encourage versatility and innovation. Nothing is more exciting for me to watch than when a student gains confidence within music! As a teacher it's important for me to lay the fundamentals and strengthen their dexterity in music. However, artists are born when a student's individuality is nurtured and they express themselves with the tools they've been given. It's one thing to gain knowledge in how to sing (or play), but it's another when you can communicate effectively with your instrument so that everyone else can feel it. Read More
