I first began teaching in high school, helping to get fellow classmates comfortable on the guitar. While at Berklee I taught music in a K-12 public school context as part of my student-teaching initiative. After graduating from Berklee I found that teaching private lessons gave me a challenge that I loved and found fulfilling. I really enjoy creating a custom plan for each student to help get them to where they want to go in playing an instrument. Often, a student wants to learn a modern style of music, and I like combining such current styles with wisdom and ideas from older genres (such as jazz and classical) to help round out their musical education.

I have been teaching privately for over ten years. During my time at The Berklee College of Music I took classes in pedagogy, and every teacher I have had the pleasure of studying with has functioned as an invaluable model for how to teach, and the many different ways to articulate and illuminate the nuances of playing the guitar, and playing music. I also have experience teaching large and diverse groups of students and have worked as a clinician at music festivals and music camps such as North Hampton, MA's 'Django in June' where I was hired to teach in 2009, 2010, and 2012.

I started teaching after graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1980. I've been playing since I was 12 years old and love what I do! If a student has never played, I can teach them the foundational techniques to accomplish all they want to learn and stay motivated to play. I teach students of all ages and use a range of many styles.

I began learning piano at the age of three.  My dad is a band and chorus teacher and didn't consider it an "optional" skill.  I actually learned to read music before english!  (I was confused in kindergarten when I found that the alphabet went past G!)  Music has been an integral part of my life since then with my elementary and high school years filled with festivals, concerts, auditions and competitions.  I then went on to get my Bachelor's degree at Berklee College of Music.  I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Composition at the Vermont College of Fine Arts and hope to pursue my Ph.D in Composition afterwards.

Generally my students select their own repertoire, and I use that music to teach lessons about theory and composition, while trying to sneak in some improvisation as a confidence and skills builder.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
