For beginners just learning how to play their instrument, I start with exercises from an assortment of beginner books as well as teaching the fundamentals of scales, and basic chords which would give them the grasp on the music they want to learn. For students of all levels I basically care about finding what the student is interested in and building upon their tastes. I find that the most important thing is keeping the student engaged by being interested in not only the music itself but also the practice and routine. Read More

For me, the main goal of my lessons is for my students to develop a real love of music. To me it matters not if a student plays music as a hobby or intends for it to be a profession - what is most important is that they're meeting goals they have set for themselves and are having fun doing so. Although my lessons have a clear structure to them, I always make sure that the content of these lessons are interesting and exciting for each student. Read More

I started gaining experience as a teacher over 5 years ago when I started teaching lessons to my freinds, some of who are now involved in musical projects of their own. I continued gaining experience in this field during college, where I would consistently meet with fellow students to instruct/tutor them outside of classes. I believe that through my experience I have been able to provide lessons that make learning both fun and interesting for the student. Read More

My story in the music begins with the study of Venezuelan folk music. Later, as a violist, I was a founding member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra "Raimundo Pereira" (One of the Orchestras of "The Sistema") in Venezuela. I studied lyrical and popular song with Masters William Alvarado and Inés Feo La Cruz. I have two records production, the first, named Por el Medio Oriente, it is a musical project that fuses the sounds and rhythms prevalent in Middle Eastern music and culture and the second named Preludio y Coda, a romantic CD. The teaching style that I use is to get to know my students and keep a fun and engaging atmosphere. I try to convey that the goal of learning an instrument is to play music, so I always save time for playing songs or jamming together. I always found that my best teachers were kind and lighthearted individuals that understood my needs. I try to be the same for my students. Read More

With beginners and especially children, I only assume that one's knowledge of the guitar is at best at a basic level. I'll begin by teaching how to hold the instrument as well as posture. Also I'll teach basic strumming patterns for the student to get familiar with the guitar. With students at an intermediate level, I'll ask how much they may already know, or what they would like to learn. Read More

I began teaching as soon as I could. My dad held piano lessons out of our house and inspired me to teach guitar (the only instrument my dad wasn't terribly good at). I also taught trumpet, French horn and piano throughout high school. When I got to college, no one at Berklee really needed lessons in instruments anymore, however, I spent a lot of time tutoring kids in Music Theory, Arranging and other more technical aspects of music.
