I will start with basic books that teach you the bare fundamentals of music, the notes, fingering, etc. If you already know the basics we will go into a more advanced teaching plan. Depending on your skill level and what you want to accomplish in terms of style and technique I will base my lesson plan accordingly. I will base what I teach you according to your musical influences, passions, styles you want to learn, and who you would like to become as a musician overall. Read More

As an educator, it is important for me to not only see my students learn and become better musicians, but thrive and have a good time doing so. For a student to learn music, they have to not only want to learn the instrument, but be inspired. Because of this, I will be lenient with the amount of work and the amount of practice required, as to be flexible with the students schedule and choices. Read More

Originally being a self-taught musician, I began with piano and harmonica, then eventually branched out to guitar, bass, banjo, among several others. I have ran sound equipment from an early age as well, learning how to set rigs for full bands and how to mix and master tracks for recording purposes. I have met and played with many famous and unfamous musicians, and find that the highest amount of talent is undiscovered and uncultivated. Read More

Slow and steady WINS the race! Learning music is not a race, but this lesson is true when learning music. I am able to work with students to help them improve by identifying and isolating problems in their playing. I can create simple exercises for the student to slowly and surely become closer to the guitarist they wish to be. I am very flexible and prioritize the students need over everything else. Read More

I have been teaching in the NOVA area for a little over three years now. I started when I returned from out of state and have not looked back since. I have maintained a studio of about 10-15 students almost consistently after about a year of starting. My students have ranged widely in age, from elementary students to retired adults who have have wanted to learn an instrument. I am focused on both enjoying playing but also pushing students to their limits and making them much better. Read More

Aestethics or "beauty" of the voice is subjective. In this method we favor the voice health. The ability to sing without fatigue. The confidence that we can trust in our instrument. The result of this work is after all a "beautiful" sound. And it will sound beautiful for every listener. "The acoustical result of a healthy sound is a beautiful sound. And we will agree in any culture that its beautiful because its an instinct aesthetic." (Eugene Rabine) The method itself comprehends 4 parts: 1) a theory about the functional system (how the instrument works) 2) a theory about the sensomotorial system (how one person learns a sensomotorial activity) And based on those 2 theories: 3) a specific Pedagogy 4) a specific Didactic I don't want to get too "technical" in this section, you're free to ask me if you have further questions about these aspect. Music Club was where it all started; from there, I branched out into private lessons, starting with my peers, and later working with references and other community members who heard I was making rounds. In college, in addition to private lessons, I also began teaching grade school classes at a nearby school. These classes were more focused on understanding the basics of rhythm, harmony, melody, and how they interact - what makes music sound good to our ears, and how to use those things for creative self-expression.
