I first ask my students many questions about their relationship to music and where do they want music to take them. I tailor my lesson plan for each student by taking into careful consideration their musical background as well as their objectives. I customize a plan that is comfortable to their pace and helps them achieve their goals. By reaching small manageable short term goals my students gain skills and confidence. Read More

The methods I use change depending on the student, but generally, I use the following: - Piano: start with Alfreds (suited for age/proficiency), then choose a specialty (improvising, classical, pop, etc) - Guitar: start with Hal Leonard (for note reading), then choose a specialty (jazz, pop, classical, flamenco, etc) - Voice: because of the nature of the human voice, I dont use a book, but rather teach principles and methods to use during practice and performance Regardless of the instrument, I hope to help you improve as much as I can. My style of singing is called "Bel Canto", italian for beautiful singing. Smooth, flowing melodies, flatter the voice to help it become even, flexible and expressive. My student's voices will not wear out, but rather, they grow stronger and more responsive to their owners emotions. Students will learn about all the areas of the body in which the voice can travel, articulation and enunciation, and a huge array of vocal exercise. Read More

I've always thought the best approach was to get the student playing the type of music or songs they want to the most, right from the start. Over the years I have found that as long as the student plays the style they're interested in, there is always an opportunity to implement the basics (or more advanced ways) to each lesson within a musical styles he/she is comfortable learning within and inspired by. Apart from only taeching, I also love to learn. I love to learn about what inspires people, about what motivates them and what they dream of becoming or acomplishing. No judgements, no rushing. Everybody learns at they're own speed. I set realistic goals and encourage students to find they're own style of expression. Learning music should always be fun. As a father of a 2 year old whom loves his guitar, I can teach from the youngest of students, to the more advanced ones. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who specializes in working with young beginning musicians. My experience as a former elementary school general music teacher and band director has provided me with the insight to support students to succeed in those environments. Music has afforded me the opportunity to travel the world as a performer and, it is my goal to support my students so they may also have the same experiences. Read More

I have my own ProTools recording studio, and I record 10 songs from each book for students to learn to play by ear. I make a CD and give it to the student. The CD holds about 30 tracks on it, the piano tracks and my speaking voice on each track. I speak on the CD gently underneath the piano playing, for example, when there is an interval, I slow things down and the student will hear my voice in the background saying Interval, then the student will hear me play each note of the interval separately. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
