I began teaching Guitar and Piano during college as a way to expand my playing and teaching skills. Over the years I gained extensive knowledge of teaching techniques and how to work with students at all levels, ages, backgrounds, and understanding of theoretical music application. I handle my students with care, respect, and motivate them through positive reinforcement of their milestones while learning. Moreover, I have taught guitar and piano to over 200 students in the last decade - many have pursued careers in music, and some have even surpassed my accomplishments. Read More

My first job late in high school was to Lifeguard, and teach swim lessons. I also taught sports on weekends. I've worked with kids ranging from 6 months to 17, and also have worked with adults, and people with disabilities. I continued to teach, and work with kids for several years following. Times in between these jobs I began giving lessons to children I met through these programs I worked for that needed someone to give music lessons. Read More

It wasn't until I was 12 years old that I really started to play and learn guitar, being further motivated by my brother who was just learning guitar himself. We started out learning songs by Metallica and Led Zeppelin. Later, I took a deep interest in learning blues, classical, jazz, and more classic rock like Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Santana etc. After years of studying and practice, I believe I have a firm grasp of music theory, how to play different styles of music, and the ins and outs of guitar playing. For beginning guitar I start out with Chris Parkening: classical guitar book...learning finguring styles, rudiments, and notes. We then go into various techniques and develop song repetoire and chording and strumming styles. For beginning piano I start with level one Hal Leonard book for beg. piano and various beginning classical composers: Beethoven, Mozart, Tchakovisky, Jazz, etc. . I split this class into musicianship-learning notes and reading music, fingering and scales, and theory. Read More

I've been teaching music for a little over 5 years (2014). I have started many kids who don't know if they would rather learn guitar, drums, or piano. So I give them a tour of all three and show them the basics before they decide their favorite. I encourage consistent practice and practice methods that ensure that the students always feel a sense of improvement without frustration. Personally I've felt the sense of improvement after practicing but was still more agitated, but that was college, before I started teaching. Read More

Im a dedicated and passionate creative with years of experience to share with my students; Im empathetic and good at teaching you the way you learn. I grew up playing blues and jazz in venues and clubs around the Bay Area as a teen and later graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Electronic Production and Design, where I had the opportunity to dive into the world of production, synthesis and electronics while simultaneously studying guitar as my principle instrument. I mix theory, ear training, and intrumental technique into each lesson. I believe it is important for a student to not only be able to play a song, but to understand, and hear it on a high level as well. I teach my students how to listen to themselves while they are playing, which is the difference between and OK musician and a great musician. Read More
