I have taught at several schools including one in which I graduated from, and privately on my own as well. I've played with a wide variety of musicians, both experienced and unexperienced, young and old, and have learned from all of my experiences. I look forward to helping create new young musicians that will eventually be the world's leaders in creativity, and those who wish to learn music as a self-rewarding experience. Read More

I encourage all my students to learn the basic rudiments of music including music theory, sight-reading and playing ‘by ear’. I recommend Mel Bay’s “Children’s Guitar Method” and Hal Leonard’s “Guitar Method Book 1” for school age children. However, many of my students have decided to concentrate on learning basic theory involving chords and scales to develop ability to play ‘by ear’. When working with voice students I focus on basic theory, breath control, and vocal scales to develop student’s ability to discern musical intervals. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, working on every aspect of music: Technique, Music Theory, Repertoire, sight reading skills in a fun a didactic way. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

For beginners with no prior knowledge or musical education I start with the MelBay Method Modern Guitar 1. After they acquired the basic & fundamental Knowledge and skills in an entertaining way then I move on to teach them the first lesson of the Melbay method the student learns the first note on the first three strings of the guitar. Later based on their progress I move on to teach them the first scales and natural and simple accords with songs that stimulate and encourage their learning process according to their level of musical knowledge. I typically start by first assessing whether or not the student has any prior experience in musical training, whether that be in a private instrument, music theory, or just some experience gained from taking music classes at school. From there I develop a curriculum tailored to both the student's current level of musical knowledge as well as what interests them. When teaching and assigning homework and repertoire, I like to offer a balance between what the student wants to learn and the essential exercises that will expand the student's musical knowledge, abilities and muscle memory.
