I started teaching right after graduating from Berklee at a school where I actually took lessons during my high school years! It was such a special experience and it made be fall in love with helping people achieve their musical goals and dreams, regardless of how big or small they are. There are few things more special than when a student wants to learn a song and we work on it, lesson after lesson, in as much detail as possible and when they finally get it... that look in their eyes is priceless! I enrolled at The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford in the U.K. In my first year, I gained a diploma in Contemporary Popular Music Performance with a Distinction and was also an award winning guitarist with a year’s endorsement to Ernie Ball. Whilst studying for my music degree, I was chosen to perform live with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I was taught by many leading professional guitarists within the industry and developed playing in a range of styles including Rock, Pop, Funk, Metal, Latin, Reggae, Jazz etc. Read More

I like to create a very warm, encouraging, relaxed and positive atmosphere for all my students. My teaching style is very much student-led in terms of goals and preferences. While I will create a general plan for each student to reach their particular goals, I never see my lesson plans as these rigid constructs that must be stuck to closely, and a guitar lesson may shift gears right in the middle of the lesson if I feel a student needs to spend a bit of extra time on one skill or concept before moving on, or if I find the student has picked up something much more quickly than expected, and we can move on to the next thing, or if the student asks a question that leads us to dive a little deeper into one particular topic that wasn't necessarily on the plan. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to enroll at the Musicians Institute (MI) Drum Performance Program, granted with two scholarships, the ‘Musicianship Scholarship’ and the ‘International Musicians Merit Scholarship’. I am very proud of the 15+ years of teaching music and the formal training I had in Music Education and at MI. In 2015, I had the opportunity to teach symphonic percussion to teenagers at Escola de Música da OSPA (Porto Alegre’s Symphony Orchestra school). Read More

First and foremost, lessons should be fun. I like to keep a positive attitude, along with patience and understanding, since learning an instrument can be a bit intimidating. I'm very encouraging, and might even give a good rock n' roll yell once the student is grasping a certain song or chord structure. There's nothing more rewarding than when I see my students have that "Aha!" moment and feel confident in what they are learning. Read More

I've had students ranging from 12 years to 50+. All of them have been the same. They all need specific individual teaching instruction with someone who can discern their needs and learning speed. I've taken many lessons with many different instructors in my beginnings of playing guitar. Each teacher found different areas in which I was lacking practice. I have learned from my mistakes and now use them to my advantage by knowing what to look for in my students. Read More

Teaching has been a constant through my musical journey, mainly in person. I have not had the opportunity to be as consistent, because of my performance schedule. Online learning platforms have begun to open my eyes to endless opportunities. Both the challenge and the reenforced learning have been the most rewarding teaching experiences. No two students are alike, so understanding an individual's learning style and interests in music is the best approach. Read More
