I always keep the students in mind with progression and excitement constantly. The throwback from week to week will give both the student and teacher a insight what has to be improved and advanced. I have many students playing professionally in bands and orchestra's as well. Each student has individual needs that will be in conjunction with the personality of the student a great rapport with both of us or group I am working with. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was in High School, where I was a mentor to students in their middle school orchestra and a section leader for the violas. Directly after high school, I went to school at BYU-Idaho where I studied for 5 years as a musician and a teacher. I want everyone to feel that they can learn music and that music can be fun to learn and grow in. I start by gathering information about a student's goals and inspirations, and prior knowledge/experience. From there, we develop a plan for warmup exercises, technical exercises, literature, sight-reading, ear-training and listening excerpts to be studied. I determine whether the student needs to begin learning primarily by ear or using some kind of written notation. We find a schedule that will work with both of us. Most students have a regular weekly time, but some students need a variable time due to their individual schedule so we work that out in advance. Read More

A relationship with music is a very personal thing. To some it is all about the competition while to others it is simply the joy of playing for one's self. It is my job as a teacher to help each student discover what it is they want to get out of their experience with music and then help to nurture that experience. To treat music like a sport and assume that all students have the same expectations is a mistake that is made all too often with our schools and is, regrettably, all too often the main reason why so many kids choose not to continue with music. In all cases, the most important thing I try to teach is the love for this art and therefore for the instrument I'm teaching, because that is the best thing a teacher can teach you. I encourage all my students to set goals that are real and possible to accomplished. Acknowledging their advance is a key thing to motivate them to go further every time, always taking care of his health avoiding any kind of injuries through setting a good practice routine with proper warm-ups.
