I began my vocal studies in North Carolina State University with Elvira Green, who was one of the first black Sopranos at The Metropolitan Opera. I continued at Boyer College of Music under the tutelage of an internationally acclaimed jazz singer Joanna Pascale. After moving to Los Angeles, I began a mentorship with Tamara Beatty, who has been a vocal coach on The Voice for 10+ years. After college, I worked as a full-time talent manager in New York City and Los Angeles. Read More

I will go at the students learning pace but also push them to accel. I teach at your pace and will make sure you get results. We can learn out of a book of your choosing but if you're unsure of what you need to learn I will gladly take the reigns and start you out with what I think would benefit you. I have a TON of books to learn from which range from rock books, jazz, sight reading, tablature and also some holiday stuff if that's something you'd want to do. Read More

I'm a passionate instructor who loves sharing my knowledge with others. I recently obtained my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the California State University of Los Angeles. I have been training professionally as a guitarist for seven years. I have mostly performed classical guitar, but I have also been able to perform other genres while applying my classical guitar knowledge. I recently performed with my college's guitar ensemble in Armenia, and I have also had solo performances during my time in college. Read More

I cater my teaching curriculums to the student's interest and proficiency level. The first lesson would involve a discussion about what initially drew the student to the guitar, what genres they love, and what they hope to get out of the class. Next, we will go through the fundamentals, as appropriate for the student's skill level. After we've established a clear vision and certain rhythm of doing things, I would assign 15-20mins of warm-ups for each lesson -- tailoring the warmup exercises to specific techniques that the student wants to improve in. My methods are the ones that works more for the student. For some reason some methods work better with certain people. One method can be tedious for a student and easy and fun for another. Hal Leonard's can be a good tool. I can use to many different books. Also I can write down specific exercises special for the student. Some times a student can learn faster without a book. Read More

Classes are customized per the student's individual needs. For some students, this means a standard repertoire: Schradiek, Scevcik, Hrimaly for violin. Hanon for piano. But for others, they would do better with a less formal approach. In all cases, the use of the ear is fundamental and primal. We will learn how to hear, and how to listen for timbres and intervals. (Basic interval training will be a part of everyone's lesson, as there's really no way around that.) Some students are intimidated by the classical repertoire, and the demands the classical tradition places on musicians. Read More

During my first meeting with a new student I ask them questions about their prior experiences, current knowledge, and musical aspirations. From there I tailor a unique learning strategy geared towards their goals, personality, and aptitude. I always try to use music that the student enjoys to spotlight the concept we are covering, and encourage the student to think about it while they listen to their favorite songs. The greatest payoff I can think of is when a student gets the immediate satisfaction that comes along with hearing an audience cheer for them after a good performance, and I do my best to curate these opportunities!
