I've been lucky enough to perform all over the U.S. and a lot of Europe by touring with different bands in high school, college, and independent touring groups. I've been teaching private lessons off and on for about 5 years now. It's been a goal of mine to learn as many instruments as possible throughout my life and focus on the instruments I love. I've been able to learn the piano, organ, all kinds of guitars, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, percussion instruments, and vocals. Read More

I have taught guitar, piano, and flute for 30 years. The most important part of teaching is helping students to feel proud of their accomplishments and to enjoy music. I like to show my student''s performances through texting videos to their families as well as live concerts and recitals. I enjoy performing regularly as well. I have also worked as a music therapist in many different settings with a variety of different populations. Read More

Once this is established we can build more and more from that initial canvas. I take my time to guide my students into a hands on approach to learning. I do NOT force students to do something they are uncomfortable with, and If the issue ever comes up I will urge my student, chaperone or parent the speak up! Read More

I have been consistently teaching students in their homes since then, with the most students since graduating from college. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I believe that a degree of flexibility should always be present within the learning environment. I generally try to understand and establish mutual expectations to ensure that my students are getting the best education possible. I also believe firmly in many of the tried and true methods of musical instruction. This instruction generally includes learning topics such as music theory, improvisation, scale to chord relationships, rhythm, playing technique, composition strategies, pieces of interest, reading notation and/or tabs, and many other pertinent aspects of music.
