My earliest teaching engagements date back as far as middle school, where I was a member of the Dueitt Middle School guitar club: an after school extracurricular program based upon mutual learning. This eventually led to my joining the Spring High School music club, while offering independently designed lesson plans to students after school and during summer. I teach each student different. Depending on the students level, pace , knowledge, strength, abilities , determination and goals. All students will have a understanding of scales, rhythm, chords and progressions . Each one of these will breakdown to their own sub-groups. With them expanding as the student progresses . First off, I find out what inspired the student to want to play music and I'll get a feel for the type of music that they're interested in. Then I will create a custom lesson plan for that student. There is so much to discover about music, so I encourage setting small goals each lesson. I like to teach my students songs that present many different melodic scenarios and help them develop their ear so that can start to recognize all types of chord progressions, melodies and rhythmic patterns.
