Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion Conga Latin Percussion
For beginning students I start all the way at the beginning with the basics of percussion, from the way to hold the sticks and mallets, to how to read music. After the student grasps the fundamentals I introduce solo pieces to build a repertoire so that they may grow their musical knowledge and become a better musician. For adults I like to find out what they are interested in and build my lesson plan around that idea. Read More

It's so amazing to see my students develop an appreciation for music at all levels! I teach by experience and what has been the sensible to me in learning music. I simply get right to the major points that develop the musician in my students all while concentrating on technique which is so important! I always like to be open to what the student's goal is when studying to play the drums because I want to meet their needs. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I like to get an idea from the student and the parent what their expectations are for music lessons. From there, the student and I come up with musical goals to accomplish for that year. We create a practice schedule based on the student's school and extracurricular activities and try to follow that schedule as much as possible. I also like to incorporate other styles of music such as popular Broadway pieces and Contemporary pieces into the student's repertoire so that they can have greater diversity in their piano playing or singing. I am very passionate about music, and my goal is to pass that onto my students. I look for ways to keep them motivated by changing up the things we focus on and using fun teaching tools. I graduated in 2012 from The Art Institute of Houston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). I have played professionally with the Brazosport Symphony in Lake Jackson, TX as their principal cellist, librarian, and manager. Read More
Instruments: Voice Violin Viola Fiddle
I usually begin with the Suzuki method for both children and adults, and once the student has a good command of fundamental violin technique, we progress in the style of the student's primary interest. I am very open to teaching a variety of styles, and can put together a detailed lesson plan for any direction the student may choose. In the event that the student is primarily focused on areas other than the classical repertoire, I definitely begin with Mark O'Connor's violin method that is specifically designed for students interested in traditional folk and fiddle music. For beginning students (regardless of age instrument) I try to simplify the approach and work on a set of warm ups/exercises coupled with a performance piece or song that they can feel good about and lots of fun listening assignments. From there I have a few options of instruction methods that I tailor to the individual student. More intermediate/advanced students will not escape from some of the basics (metronome, scales, rudiments etc.) but will be met with many more choices of performance material based more on their individual goals.
