I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. With this degree and profession comes the knowledge and skillset of numerous instruments, including voice (my primary instrument), guitar, piano, and ukulele. I teach children as young as 6, and adults well into retirement. I first assess the student's musical goals, then tailor the teaching method to achieve those goals. Some students want to just have fun, some want to learn "hum and strum", while others want to prepare for competitions or perfomances or go on to become professional musicians. My first steps into teaching were as a camp counselor at a local music summer camp in Shaker Heights from 2008-2012. During that time I had a few students who were just beginning to play saxophone and clarinet. Those experiences coupled with phenomenal teachers throughout high school inspired me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Music Education at Ithaca College. During my collegiate years I continued honing my abilities and knowledge of all the instruments I play while also studying music theory, conducting, and composition along with researching pedagogical approaches. I grew up in the chicagoland area where my music career started young. I tried many instruments but eventually landed on guitar early in high school which has been my passion ever since. After High School I continued guitar and studied at Elmhurst College near Chicago, while there I performed with many ensembles in a large variety of genres and styles. I believe each student is unique, and aim to help the student fall deeper in love with the guitar by meeting them where they are at with their own interests and desires with the instrument. I have had multiple different instructors throughout my life, and some of them seem to have had their own agenda and what they wanted me to be learning.
