I've been teaching since college, teaching percussion ensembles and private percussion lessons, before eventually branching out into teaching private lessons on all the instruments I know! Since my time as a teacher, I've worked with hundreds of students and have become proud of all the growth I've seen in them. Working with so many students has also been educational for me as a teacher, and I've begun to develop methods through that experience that I can bring to new students. Read More

My teaching style is not in a box. I would need to get to know the student, understand the goal of the student, understand the learning process of the student. I do have structure depending on the level of the student but there is much room for customization as not every student is the same, neither does everyone think the same. It is my goal to reach who you are as a person so I can better assist you on your path in music. Read More

I use various methods and books depending on the style, age, ability etc. I always keep my eye out for new books and open to suggestions. A few examples. With classical guitar students who are over 10 yo I prefer to use Christopher Parkening Guitar Method and Frederick Noad "Solo Guitar Playing" The latter suits more mature (both mentally and physically) students. With younger guitar students , 6-9 yo, I usually start by using basic guitar methods such as Hal Leonard Essential elements or "Everybody's Guitar Method" and my own easy arrangements of popular songs before shifting to Parkening. My go-to books for Drummers, beginners and advanced are 1. Advanced technique for the modern drummer by Jim Chapin and 2. Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone. No matter what you listen to, the material in these books can be applied to any style. Another tip is to learn what influenced your favorite players. I Guarantee every one of your favorite drummers has studied this book. It contains beginner techniques through the most prominent advanced skills. Read More

I started teaching in 2018, soon after moving to LA a few weeks after I graduated from Berklee College Of Music. I started out teaching at music schools, and would often have up to 30 students in a week. I would have weekly lessons with my students, prepare them for their annual recitals, and communicate with parents after their child's progress. More recently I have been teaching in-person lessons at my student's houses, as well as doing virtual lessons, which has been a incredibly rewarding experience. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I want to make sure that I foster a love and enjoyment for music in my students. Fun is the best motivator and practice is key so I hope to present my lessons in a way that makes practice an enjoyable part of the process. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students so that it feels like they are making good progress. I am never rigid in my teaching style, however! Read More
