For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. With the Suzuki Method the students learn to play the instrument first, and to read music second, removing the obstacle of reading notation until the students learns some technique on the guitar. I have also taught students of varying ages using traditional teaching methods. I like to pace the lessons based on each individual student. I understand that students have other obligations and I do not believe music lessons should add stress to the students. Read More
