I start by gathering information about a student's goals and inspirations, and prior knowledge/experience. From there, we develop a plan for warmup exercises, technical exercises, literature, sight-reading, ear-training and listening excerpts to be studied. I determine whether the student needs to begin learning primarily by ear or using some kind of written notation. We find a schedule that will work with both of us. I teach the fundamentals of music, and I make sure you know how to read music. Piano can be a challenging instrument to learn and play, but I can teach you the tricks to make it easy.  For example, I can teach you to play and sing Beatles songs in two to three weeks.  I highly encourage my students to be creative, but I don't require it.  Creativity can be utilized even when you are playing Mozart or Bach.  I also teach improvisation,songwriting, and music production with Ableton Live.
