Teaching piano is a great joy. My goal is to help students develop the skill to make playing music fun and satisfying, whether their goal is to become a professional or to simply enjoy playing for its own sake. I've worked for several arts agencies (Arts Horizons, Healing Arts Initiative, CREATE) so I've had the privilege to teach music in a variety of settings. While teaching in a classroom setting is immensely satisfying, seeing individual students grow in proficiency, dexterity. concentration, is an even bigger thrill. Read More

I teach with a positive attitude and lots of encouragement. Why? Because this is meant to be a safe space for learning your instrument, whatever your age or current skill level. I am trained to find any area where you feel uncomfortable playing or learning and find new and better ways to help you get exactly what you want to play under your fingertips. I make sure that no matter what we do or where we go in the lesson, you get a playing victory every single time you show up! Read More

The most rewarding thing for a teacher is seeing the student progress, does not matter to me if it's perfect! Music takes time and practice and it's very much like a painting. You are not gonna be done in a whole day, you add a little everyday. I only ask my students to set aside 15-30 minutes a day to practice. I am also encouraging to students to learn how to use their practice time effectively. Read More

I've been teaching now for 3 years and it has been a welcomed alternative to my former day job of working in a corporate environment in New York City. I started informally teaching my friends as far back as 10 years ago and it has evolved into a serious passion of mine. I have taught a wide range of students ranging from 10 to 50 years of age with an eclectic array of learning styles and musical preferences. Read More

Every student is different, so my approach to each student is tailored to their goals. Young students need more guidance than older students and are encouraged to broaden their musical tastes and explore what will ignite their musical imaginations. Some of my students are working toward auditions such as The Voice and we focus on song choice, technique and performance. I teach every one of my students as though they were my only student. I am trained in Music Learning Theory, which promotes the building of the foundational aural and oral music skills which lead to music literacy. For young students, this may look like playing music games and echoing tonal rhythm patterns to help develop a vocabulary. For older voice lesson students, activities based in Music Learning Theory will help build fluency and confidence when learning new solo repertoire. For beginning guitar students, I use Music Will methods to teach chord structures and practice techniques. Read More
