Maya studied upright bass performance at Berklee College of Music, where she earned a Berklee Merit Scholarship and the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. She played with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, with a highlight performance of Lord of the Rings Symphony at Bostons Symphony Hall. She tours nationally with Boston-based bummer pop band Future Teens. To me, there's no point in teaching types of music the student has no interest in. I generally like to teach my lessons on a per-song basis, meaning we'll focus on a number of tunes, and can extract techniques and theory from those songs which in turn improve his/her playing.
