Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. My approach to learning an instruments is to have the students learn to play by ear first before they can start learning to read music. I find that most students are able to progress quickly because it frees them to focus on the playing the instruments rather than reading notes. I started teaching in 2012, I took some time off after school and traveled to Shanghai-China. There I taught at Rubato Music, a private music studio. I gave lessons to children and adults, had my first experience introducing the instrument to novice students. I took notes from colleague and learned from more experienced teachers on ways to better explain/demonstrate lesson material.
