In addition to seeing music through each individual student's eyes, I foster a sense of community by encouraging communication, coordinating chamber music and performing recitals, and providing other means of continued learning. I make myself available via email and phone, always doing everything I can to continue the students' engagement outside of their lesson. I push each student as far as they are both willing and able to be pushed without crossing the line over either of those limits. Read More

Students learn best in a relaxed, nurturing environment.  I believe in order to successfully teach, I need to be encouraging, and truly care about the students.  My goal is to always have the students improve.  To do this, I think students need a well-balanced diet of tone (Moyse De la Senorite can be used), technique (scales for younger students, Maquarre Daily Excercises or Taffanel and Gaubert Daily Excercises for more advanced students), etudes (Melodious and Progressive Studies), and pieces (I consult the NYSSMA manual for appropriate pieces for the students level).  Having taken Alexander Technique, I strongly emphasize posture so that students can use their bodies in the most efficient way.  Individualized instruction allows for teachers to cater to the needs of the student, challenging the students without frustrating them.  Everyone is unique and learns at different rates, so no two lessons will ever be the same.  I teach students how to practice, so that they can progress outside of the 30 min. or hour long lesson.  As for performance standards, I have used rubrics for tone, technique, articulation, phrasing, and breathing.  Once strengths and weaknesses are assed, I create a plan to help the student improve, which is what students and teachers want to hear. My teaching experience started during my college years. I began teaching at a music school and privately in my own studio for 3 years. Motivating students with my teaching artist skills, is one of my key point to increase the passion for music in the student. In addition, consistent practicing schedule is another aspect that I insistently apply to all my students. Depending on the student's age I can either choose pieces (songs) that fits their taste, as well as introduction to body mapping. Read More

My teaching career started during college when I began teaching virtual private flute lessons during the pandemic. Since then, I have held teaching positions at various summer programs teaching music to elementary school children. My main goals in teaching are to ensure that the student is having fun and enjoying the music that they play and that classical music and instrumental instruction are accessible to students of all backgrounds. My students are encouraged to participate in competitions, recitals, and workshops. Read More

Teaching and Performing Music in my passion in life. We all know that everyone is unique and therefore their learning strategies are different. From my perspective, a good teacher is the one that above being kind, caring, and extremely patient should be very encouraging. Nothing is more important than having fun and enjoying playing and performing during music lessons. I want the best for my students and I am willing to take the time to teach them the fundamentals of playing the flute such as breath control, flute techniques, beautiful sound, etc. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
