Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I first learned piano, then added saxophone, clarinet, flute, and bass in my middle and high school years. I had so much fun working with the elementary school kids that I decided to build a studio up of my own and ever since i have been working with a number of students ages ranging from 4-80. My students are individually pushed to reach goals that they make for themselves at the start of lessons no matter what that goal might be and I love being able to make a fun journey to that goal. While I do teach repertoire, my main goals are to foster a passion for music and the ability to approach new music my students may encounter. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church. This means treating each student as an individual, recognizing that each student may have different goals and learning styles, and teaching and planning lessons accordingly. I believe strongly in teaching from a place of encouragement and empathy. Lessons are a safe space for students to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.
