Instruments: Piano Guitar Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I start of my lessons by asking how much the student practiced for the week. Then I ask them if there was anything that was confusing for them so we can work on that first. I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise. I finish with giving them a homework assignment and making sure they understand what to practice for next week. Read More

Instruments: Violin Viola Flute Fiddle Piccolo Music

I encourage my students to set short-term and long-term goals for themselves to work toward accomplishing in our lessons. I also pay special attention to the goals and desires of the student's guardians to know what I do to help students reach their full potential. Teaching is all about problem solving in creative ways for me as a teacher. I am deeply committed to seeing others growth and develop their skills so that they become stronger and more confident musicians. Read More

My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church. Instruments: Flute Piccolo Music

I tailor my teaching to what my students want to learn and what kinds of music they are interested in. I try to teach my students the fundamentals in order to succeed. While I do teach repertoire, my main goals are to foster a passion for music and the ability to approach new music my students may encounter. I try to leave my students with effective practice methods and a basic understanding of music theory in addition to flute skills. Read More

I am a life-long musician [age 5 - present] from a family of musicians who have played with everyone from Fanny Brice (my grandfather) to Benny Goodman (my mother) to Steve Miller (myself). I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston , MA from 1975-1979 and left (5 weeks short of my degree) to perform in a rock band who toured for 5 years in the US and Canada. Having played everywhere from Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado to Elkhorn Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho to Valdez, Alaska to Cobo Hall in Detroit,Michigan, I have lengthy performance credentials and even more varied experience in the styles and situations that I have performed in that include: rock band, orchestra, concert band, jazz combo, folk duo, Big Band, marching band, drum corps, celtic rock band, traditonal gaelic ceili, flute choir, pit band, church choir, chorus, show choir, vocal solo, commercial voice-overs, vocal duet, musical theatre, etc. Read More

As every student has different needs I dont have a specific plan that I follow. Rather I like to adapt my lesson plans to each individual students goals and playing ability. I always have my students work on a mixture of technique, etudes, and solo repertoire. For very early beginners I like to work out of Trever Wyes Very First Flute Book and his Beginners Book for the Flute. I also like the book Forty Little Pieces in Progressive Order for Beginner Flutists and from there progress to First Solos for the Flute Player. Read More

Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet Keyboard

I believe on an emphasis of performance over theory; learning to make a kinesthetic connection with your instrument is most important in developing both a good sound and adequate technique. The value of a good warm-up is most important in establishing a successful practice routine. We are all pressed for time, so I help students focus on the most important elements of breath control, embouchure and articulation at the same time that they are acquiring technical facility through the logical development of scales and arpeggios. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
