While at Crane, I doubled on flute and oboe and frequently played piccolo and English horn for concerts as well. I was originally in music education and have that background as well. Once these become ingrained in the student's mind, I will introduce various excerpts based on their skill level, eventually working our way into solo repertoire. For beginning students, I use the Trevor Wye beginning books and supplement with solos, etudes, songs and exercises that I give them which are appropriate for their level. For more advanced students, I will use etudes and methods/ solos which are appropriate for their level. For adults, I will find their interests and select a course of study with them.  With all students, I will assist with their school music or any ensemble/ solo music they wish. I started teaching 1st graders about basic music concepts at the local elementary school when I was in 7th grade. Once I got to high school and I started to get serious about music, I began teaching private lessons to middle school and other high school students. By the time I was in college, I was capable of teaching lessons to students of any age or skill level. I now teach a wide variety of students between the ages of 6 and 73 and have taught many genres including: Jazz, classical, pop, hip hop, blues, rb, samba, soul, funk, rock, and avant-garde. Read More
