Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I have played many diverse styles over the years. In addition to being well known in the world of classical saxophone, where I have worked with and studied with several world famous players, I have always enjoyed playing in jazz ensembles and playing clarinet in both chamber music and symphony orchestra settings. Music has given me the opportunity to tour to a dozen countries and perform in some of the world's great concert halls, from Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center in New York to halls in London, Moscow, Kiev, and Tokyo. I am a passionate and dedicated instructor who loves working with students and sharing our love of music. I graduated from the Mannes School of Music with a Masters degree in Flute Performance. I have performed as a soloist, chamber musician, as well as an orchestral flutist during the 14 years of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to perform at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as appearing on the Wind Masterclass Series featuring Demarre McGill. Read More

After graduating from college, I began teaching privately in my home state of Texas at the middle and high school levels in New Braunfels and Austin. Soon, I began teaching adults as well and when I moved to Washington D.C. in fall of 2006, I became the Music Instructor at The Art and Drama Therapy Institute, a center for adults with developmental disabilities. This experience had a great impact on me in terms of understanding the big picture in that the goals and methods relating to the technical aspects of music lessons, but the grand value that music offers in terms of the emotional and spiritual rewards as well. Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder

I started teaching in high school and then decided to pursue degrees in performance and music education. At UNH I taught lessons part time for four years.  I always put students needs and schedules first and met them either in my studio or at their home.  I encourage all of my students to practice at home using techniques that are effective.  I engage my students each lesson, ensuring they are constantly improving as well as enjoying their musical experience.  It is my duty as an educator to pass my love of music onto my pupils.  My students are of all ages and skill levels.  I encourage them to enter competitions and recitals, train their ears, learn about music history, and have musical intentions whenever they play.  I will help my students to achieve any level of playing. We can talk about: Instrumental Technique: Leaning to making a better, stronger, more in-tune and richer sound on your instrument. Improving how fast, and evenly your fingers can operate your instrument. Theoretical/Musical Technique: Ear Training - teaching you how to quickly recognize different chords, tonalities, and intervals just by hearing it once. Developing your ability to sing in tune! (A must for a good musician) Rhythm - working on metronome exercises, to develop a rock-steady internal clock to unlock your deepest possibly expression of the music. Read More

I make it a point to ask all students (or parents for my younger ones) to purchase a notepad where assignments, expectations, exercises, tips/tricks can be written down to help them progress during the year and into the following week of lessons. My favorite aspect about teaching is pushing students beyond the limit they place for themselves. That being said there must be a mutual understanding that I will do all I can to help students get over a "learning hump" as I call it- I have access to a plethora of journals, articles, teaching websites, a personal library, all of these materials can be scanned, printed out, emailed and whatnot for the benefit of my students. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
